#fightingptsdvicpol campaign will again be flying the flag at the 2019 Angela Taylor Memorial run-walk event

The #fightingptsdvicpol campaign is always proud to support the Blue Ribbon foundation and again this year it is my pleasure to help spread the word that the Angela Taylor Memorial run/walk registrations are now open.
This year I have registered a team Fightingptsdvicpol for all to sign up and be part of this great event. Last year the Blue Ribbon foundation had over 750 entrants and this year I would personally love to see that target reach 1000 entrants.

The event will be held on Sunday 28 April at Albert Park Lake.
This event is to honour Constable Taylor and it provides the opportunity for the community to give thanks to our police and emergency service teams.
We welcome all runners and walkers, there is a category for all fitness levels in either the 5km walk, 5km run or 10km run. Why not get together a group of friends, family or work colleagues and register as a team.
Police & Emergency Service teams for the 5km & 10km run can compete for the Angela Taylor Memorial Shield. Last year the Memorial Shields were won by Victoria Police team ORU in the 5Km and SES won the 10km event.
Blue ribbon would like to thank the team at Bank Vic for coming on board as our Principal Partner for this event.

Angela Taylor Memorial Run/Walk 2019

Angela was committed to helping others in the community, our police and emergency services continue to demonstrate those values.

The proceeds for this years event will assist us in funding a Critical Circulatory Support Service at Eastern Health’s Box Hill Hospital in honour of Victoria Police Officers who have died in the line of duty. This new service will be led by Eastern Health’s Cardiology and Intensive Care Unit teams. The funding will deliver equipment and establish a training centre to enable Eastern Health to provide artificial heart-lung support.

This is the first hospital project we have dedicated to all 164 Police Officers that have died in the line of duty and it is the largest community project we have funded.

This couldn’t be achieved without your support.

#fighting ptsd vicpol campaign flying the flag at the Wings for Life World Run

Registrations are open again

Who would have thought –
A copper, a donut, a chase car and a run.

It just sounds like a normal day at the office for me at times.

SUNDAY THE 5th of MAY 2019, I again will be participating in the Red Bull Wings for life running event. One of my favorite events where you run against over 100,000 competitors around the world in the same race at the same time

This is another event I am using the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign to help spread awareness for #ptsd and #vicpol members.

This running race is a brilliant concept where your race finishes when the car catches you after giving you a head start of 30 minutes. Race begins at 9.00pm

For once its not me in the car chasing crooks. Its the car chasing us.

Link is here for those that want to follow me.

#fighting ptsd vicpol campaign flying the flag again at the Melbourne Marathon

Well its game on with the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign participating in the Melbourne Marathon event on Sunday the 14th of October.

We have several members proudly wearing our campaign clothing to help spread awareness for PTSD and mental health issues for our vicpol members whilst running, jogging or walking in the race.

Good luck to Pat, Amanda, Trinette, Steph and myself who will be trying our best with the 21.1km half marathon race.

Again this year our official ambassador and good friend Alexis Daish – crime reporter for Channel 9 news has been raising awareness and donations for our campaign. Alexis will again be running the 21.1km race.
To date Alexis has raised over $12,381 towards her $15,000 target.

Here is alexis link to donate.

A big thank you to my brother Craig Holland who this year for the first time will be running 42.2 kms the full Melbourne Marathon. My brother knows the incidents that I have personally attended and understands the ups and downs we as Police members go through.

Craig will also be running the event in the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign top and has also began raising donations along the way. His goal is to raise $5,000 and in just over a week he has already raised $1501.00

Here is Craigs link to donate

To date I have raised over $33,657.76 towards my campaign which is being held in the Blue ribbon mental health fund and will assist to the Blue ribbon foundation to continue its valuable work with proceeds to support the WHY (We Hear You) program for mental health services and initiatives for those who are or have served

Triathlon Victoria Duathlon Series supporting #fightingptsdvicpol campaign

I know many people say they would love to do a triathlon but the swim leg is what puts them off participating.

Well lets change that and replace the swim leg with a run.

Victoria Duathlon series is around the corner.

Thats a run,bike,run event – no swim

When I started the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign back in October 2016, I was participating in triathlons races in Victoria and Queensland to help raise awareness for #ptsd and mental health issues for our #vicpol members.

I have always been an advocate for the sport and in my first season in 2015.

I was the inaugural winner of Triathlon Victoria most inspiring performance award. Couch to Ironman in 12 months. I love the sport and am proud to advertise that Triathlon Victoria have again come out to support the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign

A message from Grant Cosgriff – Executive Director of Triathlon Victoria.

Congrats on your fundraising work and yes I do remember you from the 2015 TV Awards … indeed the first winner of the most inspiring performance award (couch to IM if I remember correctly)

We’d love to support you and offer the following

We’ll donate your entry fee back to the #fightingptsdvicpol campaign (series or individual races) and donate $10 (series entry) and $5 (single race entry) for any persons that select “Glenn Holland #fightingptsdvicpol” at entry

The $10 series donation is uncapped, the $5 single race entry capped at $100 (Note this is for sprint entries, dash entries will be at half this rate)

Keep up the great work, good luck with the fundraising and hopefully we can get a big crew from MPTC racing over the Duathlon Series

Cheers Grant

#fightingptsdvicpol campaign flying the flag this year at the MCG Stadium Stomp

When you attend sporting events at the MCG you will always see our Victoria Police members walking up and down the aisles keeping an eye on the crowd to make sure everyone is safe and doing the right thing.

Last week I advertised the MCG stadium stomp on our #fightingptsdvicpol Instagram and facebook pages to find out who was going to be out there flying the flag to help raise awareness for PTSD and mental health issues with our Victoria Police members on Sunday the 22nd of July.

To my delight, I was contacted by Samantha McHugh and Ben King – Event Director from Stadium Stomp HQ who saw the campaign post and this was the message I received.

We’d love to provide you with 2 entries to Stadium Stomp MCG and would be more than happy to include your story in our event media releases leading up to Stadium Stomp to help you raise awareness for your fight against PTSD

So It is with great pleasure that I offer these 2 entry tickets which are worth $80 each and I am happy to accept a donation starting from $60 per ticket. Please message me through the facebook page to secure your ticket.

To find out more about Stomp Stadium MCG or to sign up please visit the webpage www.protectingtheprotectors.com and go to the event tabs.

#fightingptsdvicpol campaign returning to Ironman Geelong 70.3 Triathlon in February 2019

I have deferred this race to 2020

The #fightingptsdvicpol campaign has always been about spreading awareness for #PTSD and #vicpol members and since October 2016 I have been using triathlon and running events to make this happen.

I have advertised that ways we can help reduce stress, anxiety is to take time out and exercise. I know at times it seems difficult to find motivation.

Just to keep myself honest for my own fitness and mental health.
I have paid my entry fee and entered the Geelong 70.3 Half ironman event.

This will be the third time I have raced in Geelong

2015 – Race time – 6hrs 7 min
2017 – Race time – 6hrs 39 mins
2019 – ?

The race consists of a 1.9 km swim, 90 km bike ride and finishes with a 21.1 km run and has a cut off time of 7hrs 30 mins

By all means its not an easy race although the reward when running down the red carpet to the finish line is amazing.

This is Victoria’s oldest IRONMAN 70.3 and is returning to the stunning Geelong foreshore on 17 February 2019. This scenic course offers a unique challenge set along Geelong’s spectacular waterfront and throughout the scenic countryside.
Swim in the clear waters of Corio Bay, pit yourself against the fast, challenging bike course and finish with a scenic run along the waterfront.

Hopefully see many supporters of the campaign either enter the event or come down to support.

Also available are team entries where you can decide who swims, rides and runs.
